Free Bike Riding KSessions for Kids
ids will learn important bike skills at two free workshops at Bradbury Park these school holidays. Wheely Fun and
Junior Bike Riding Skills are presented by Brisbane City Council and Bicycle Education and Awareness for Kids and Adults (BEAKA) as part of Council’s Active and Healthy and Cycling Brisbane programs.
BEAKA cycling instructor Emily Manchon said she had been coaching bike skills to children for about 10 years. “The Wheely Fun session is about going from training wheels to two wheels,” Emily said. “If your child isn’t riding yet and they are between five to seven years of age, I highly recommend they attend this session.
“There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing a child go from training wheels to riding with nothing but confidence in a one-hour workshop.”
Junior Bike Riding Skills is designed for older kids between the ages of seven and 10.
“This session is for kids who are already riding confidently, and is about teaching road awareness and road skills such as indicating, giving way, stopping, and other important skills for riding a bike on the road and pathways,” Emily said.
All attendees will need to bring their own bike, helmet, sunscreen, and water, and must be accompanied by an adult. Bookings essential. Go to, search for Wheely Fun and Junior Bike Riding Skills and select Chermside sessions.
