Dave Kero Strumming To His Own Beat

If there ever was a true man of many talents, it's Aspley guitarist and soloist Dave Keresztes (Kero). Playing guitar for over 30 years has seen him travel the world and now, share his talents with his students.

Dave has had a passion for all things music since he was a little boy. His mother introduced him to Opera and sang many genres of music to him as he was growing up.

She tuned my ears from early on,� Dave said. At 12 I decided guitar was what I wanted to do forever and I've been doing it ever since.

I love music in all aspects. I work in a music store (Arties), I teach guitar in my home studio, and am an entertainer. I'm lucky; I get to help people choose their guitar, learn their guitar and perform their guitar.�

Dave has been touring with The Elton John Tribute Show for eight years and has also been a part of many original and cover bands.

Original bands helped me get a creative insight into music ' how to perform and how to improvise, unrehearsed on-the-spot. Like a chef cooking fresh on the night,� he laughs.

The Elton Show is a big international show. I'm very fortunate to be a part of something so amazing.�

Although he has played for some huge acts, Dave loves performing his original pieces.

When you play your own, a part of yourself is revealed,� Dave said. It's like an artist. A blank canvas, that I paint for my audience. I can't communicate as well with words as I can on the guitar. I speak this language it's a gift to express yourself through music.�

Dave has a regular solo show at Aspley Central Tavern and when he's not in the music store or on the road with the Elton Show, you can find him there with his guitar, vocals and looping machine - creating all the sounds himself.

It's a fun avenue for me to be able to sing, play songs and still be able to do the lead over the top like in a band situation. My solo show is a bit of everything. I do original compositions that I've written, and covers.�
