PLANNED LIGHTING UPGRADE AT GIBSON PARK 

Brisbane City Council is planning to deliver upgraded lights at suburban sporting clubs, including Gibson Park in Stafford, home to Stafford District Cricket Club, Padua College and Brothers Junior Rugby League Club. The upgrade is part of Council’s Better Sports Lighting Program, which will remove outdated halogen lights and replace them with energy-efficient and higher-quality LED light fittings. Council says that replacing the lights could save each community sports club up to $4000 a year in power bills. The program is set to be rolled out over the next four years.

DRAGON AND AUSTRALIAN CRAWL TRIBUTE SHOW

April Sons of Beaches are presenting an authentic tribute to legendary bands, Dragon and Australian Crawl at the Geebung RSL this month. The Dragon and Australian Crawl Tribute Show will take place on Friday, 12 April.

INTERACTIVE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG GIRLS

My Remarkable Self Australia is running the Me, Myself and I program for girls in grades 3-5 at the Nundah Library in Term 2. These fun and interactive classes are about developing self-esteem, learning about feelings, self-care and building resilience.

PRESERVING LOCAL HISTORY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

Chermside and District Historical Society (CDHS) are a group of people who preserve and develop local history by researching and recording stories of the people who have lived in the area. They welcome new members to help ensure history is preserved for future generations. Meetings are held monthly with local history experts and afternoon tea.

COME AND TRY PICKLEBALL

If you’ve been interested in learning how to play pickleball, the Brisbane Pickleball Club is inviting you to join one of their weekly Come and Try sessions. These sessions are held locally on Fridays between 10am and 11am at Shaw Park in Wavell Heights and on Saturdays between 8.15am and 10.30am at Aspley East State Primary School. Participants will learn how to play, the rules and how scoring works. All equipment is provided.
