An Evening With The Finest Wines And Cuisine

Lovers of good wine, good food and good company will find everything they need at the Penfolds Wine Dinner this month.
Kedron-Wavell has designed a sumptuous five-course degustation menu to accompany a selection of award-winning Penfolds wines for this special occassion.
Food and beverage manager Russell Hickey said the wine dinners gave the chefs an opportunity to showcase their skills.
We don't often get to do this style of food in our day-to-day operations and we have some great chefs in-house, so it's a real opportunity for our guys to show off the talents they aren't always using,ť Russell said.
Penfolds asked me to put the menu together so they could decide the wines, then I spoke with my chefs and we made some changes and enhancements and personalised it.ť
The menu features mouth-watering food and wine pairings, including warm barbecue quail and Max's Pinot Noir, WA rock lobster macaroni and cheese with Bin 311 Chardonnay, and pepper-crusted petit fillet of beef with Bin 28 Shiraz.
Penfolds Australian ambassador Zoe Warrington will be hosting the dinner and introducing guests to the premium wines on offer before each course.
It's really good to be able to talk to someone like Zoe and get an idea of what's happening in the Penfolds market,ť Russell said. Ideally, she will make her way around to talk to each table during the meal and people will be able to speak with her after the event as well.
It's about giving our guests something out of the ordinary and exposure to someone with real calibre within the Penfolds family.ť
The event is open to both members and newcomers and will be an intimate setting of no more than 40 guests.
Russell said he hoped the wine dinner would be the first of many to come.
We've been talking with other wine makers who are looking to visit later in the year, so we may be able to make the wine dinners a regular event,ť he said. We always sell out and I think the price is very good given the food and wine content. When we do it, we do it pretty well.ť
