Forget expensive cameras and software, taking eye-catching images for your online business is easier than you think. Creative business owners and artisan makers will learn the tricks of product photography at a free workshop presented by BrisStyle at Chermside Library this month.

BrisStyle operations manager Belinda Harris said they had been working with Brisbane City Council Library Services to offer business development workshops for creatives.

There are a lot of business workshops, but there aren't a lot for creative-minded people, so we have been doing these sessions targeted especially to makers and small business owners,� Belinda said.

The workshops will be run by professional photographer Rachel Kimberley who specialises in creating attractive images that sell products.

Rachel will show budding photographers easy ways to style images, how to choose the right backdrop, how to take clear photos using a smartphone, and where to find the best editing apps.

Belinda said when it came to online stores, photography was one of the biggest things letting people down. For a successful online store, beautiful photography is the thing that is going to get them noticed,� she said.

While the workshop has been designed for physical product makers and creative businesses, anyone looking to improve their online images is welcome.
