Movie In The Park Ready To Roll Again
Put your skates back on because this month's outdoor cinema event has been re-scheduled and will be even bigger than before.

The Lord Mayor's Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs' free screening of Xanadu has a new date after being postponed in May due to bad weather, and this time there are some surprises in store.

Marchant Ward Councillor Fiona Hammond said she was excited the movie could go ahead on the re-scheduled date of 19 June, weather permitting.

I am also excited that as part of the warm-up entertainment, we will have the Sunnybank Brass band, who will be playing some of our favourite tunes from the 80s, Fiona said.

Roll up to the Grange Bowls Club at 4:50pm to check out Sunnybank Brass, then get ready to skate like Olivia Newton-John's iconic Xanadu character.

For the first time in Movie in the Park history, we will be installing a wooden roller skating floor and the fantastic performers from Skateaway will give a roller skating performance, Fiona said.

Afterwards, the public will be invited to get hands-on, or should it be 'roller-on', and jump onto the floor and show off their roller skating skills.

There will be plenty of food options at the event, with tasty cuisine from Tender Calamari, Alba Catering Japanese, Micasa Burger Truck, Ruby the Little Red Ice Cream Van, and Popcorn Man.

Xanadu will commence at 6:30pm, delighting movie-goers with the magical tale of a fallen Muse (Newton-John) who begins a romance with an artist (Michael Beck).

Don't forget to don your leg-warmers, shoulder pads and other colourful 80s clothing, because a prize will be awarded on the night for best dressed.

Fiona said she had been overwhelmed by the attendance at the last two movie events put on by Brisbane City Council.

I am hoping that we will create a new attendance record on the night. With good food on offer, music by Sunnybank Brass, and a skating rink, what more could you want? So bring the family and a blanket and enjoy a wonderful night at Grange Bowls.

Patrons will need to bring their own roller skates to the event.
